Kotoko - 2006 League Champions

Kumasi Asante Kotoko are the unofficial league winners of this year’s GT Premiership as the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA has ruled in their favor in their case against RTU at the Kaladan Park.

Sources close to CITI FM can confirm that the GFA Disciplinary Committee this afternoon handed RTU a three-match home ban, a twenty million cedis fine and were also declared losers of the 29th league fixture against Kotoko for crowd violence at the Kaladan Park last Sunday.

The match apparently turned into a free for all fight when alleged supporters of RTU run riot on the pitch, in protest against the decision of Referee Jeffery Amamoo to show Gafaru Abdulai a yellow card for handling the ball.

Consequently the referee ended the game abruptly realizing that his life was in danger.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko on the other hand has been awarded three points and three goals in the said game.

The Porcupine warriors now have 60 points as against 56 points by Accra Hearts of Oak and have won the league since the outcome of their last game against Berekum Arsenals will in no way influence their leadership on the league table.
