Lecturer calls on young girls to keep their virginity Ntonso (Ash), Dec 13, GNA - Mrs Vesta Adu-Gyamfi, Vice-Dean of the Department of Arts and Industry of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has called on young girls to keep their virginity until they get married. She said there was the need for them not only remains chaste to receive blessings from God but also to avoid contracting the HIV/AIDS virus and other sexually transmitted diseases.
Mrs Adu-Gyamfi was addressing a community appreciation day award ceremony of the Central Ghana Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church at Ntonso New Site in the Kwabre district of Ashanti at the weekend. Mrs Adu-Gyamfi, who was among the award winners, called on parents to endeavour to educate their children to be self-disciplined in all their endeavours.
Pastor James Amoah, Personal Ministries and Sabbath School director of the church, urged Christians to eschew hypocrisy. He said there was the need for Christians to lead lives worthy of emulation and refrain from greed and remain close to Jesus Christ. Pastor Amoah said good investment on the part of people on this earth was to help the needy and the poor in society because man is placed at the centre of the realm of God.
Individuals and organizations who were honoured for their contribution to the welfare and progress of their communities included the print and electronic media in the Ashanti region, pastors of the church, environmentalists and estate developers.
