President Kufuor leaves for Abuja |

Accra, June 18, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Saturday left Accra for Abuja, Nigeria to attend the final stage of the African Peer Review (APR) Mechanism meeting.
The meeting is a Presidential forum where President Kufuor would be reviewed by his colleague''s presidents.
The President was accompanied by the Foreign Minister, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Minister for NEPAD and Mr. Kwabena Agyepong, Press Secretary.
In a pre-departure briefing, Dr. Apraku said the forum is where African Union Heads of State that have assigned up to the APR would review and take decision on the findings of the various APR Panel Reports.
He said the governing council of the National Peer Review Mechanism has four technical review teams made up of Centre for Policy Analysis (CEPA), which dealt with issues of economic management and governance, whilst Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) look into issues of democracy and the rule of law.
Dr. Apraku said Private Enterprise Foundation (PEF) also dealt with issues on co-operate governance whilst Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) dealt with issues of socio-economic governance.
According to Dr. Apraku, the technical teams interviewed and reviewed about 50,000 Ghanaians across the social spectrum of the entire nation.
He said Ghana and Rwanda are currently due for review. The President was seen off by government officials and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
