Minister Speaks On Ya-Na''s Burial
THE Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Boniface Abubakari Saddique, has expressed worry about continued disagreement over the burial of the late overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Yakubu Andani.
"It is true and sad to mention that the core issue involving security in our region remains unresolved as the major hurdle continues to be the burial of the Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II," he noted.
Alhaji Saddique noted that until the late king was buried, there would be no permanent peace and unity in the region and therefore entreated all factions to lend their support efforts towards an amicable solution to the problem.
He was addressing the last meeting of the Northern Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) in the year at which new members were sworn into the council and the performance of the council evaluated and new strategies adopted to address the challenges of the region in the coming year.
He lamented that efforts to attain peace in the region had so far not yet yielded the needed results and pointed out that there could be no meaningful development in the area unless there was absolute and permanent peace.
Alhaji Saddique therefore urged council members to help unite people of the region to facilitate peace and development.
"I should probably remind you that as members of the RCC, it is part of our collective responsibility to create or help create a conducive environment in the region for development," he said.
Alhaji Saddique also expressed concern about chieftaincy dispute in Bimbilla.
He appealed to all residents in the region to endeavour to resolve all security problems in the region.
