NPP asked to be weary of Tsunami...
..that hit NDC.
Ho, Jan 16, GNA - Mr Peter Mac Manu, Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appealed to supporters of the party to be wary of what he called the "Tsunami" that had engulfed the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He therefore urged them to unite and cultivate the spirit of oneness and gear their efforts at winning most of the NDC supporters into their midst.
Mr Manu was addressing a New Year get-together organized by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) for a cross section of people held at the Residency in Ho on Sunday.
Mr Manu urged them to lead lives worthy of emulation and appealed to the regional executives of the party to operate an open door policy for all party members.
Enumerating the gains of the NPP in the region he said it was through great effort that the party won one seat, and therefore asked supporters to do more to gain support of the people in the region. Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, said road works had improved access to many parts of the region.
He said many of the districts were inaugurating their mutual health insurance schemes and the introduction of the capitation grant had enable many children to have access to education.
Mr Dzamesi appealed to the people of Peki/Tsito, Nkonya/Alavanyo, the Anlo Traditional Council and members of the Apostolic Revelation Society to "bury their differences and reconcile so that all the resources that have been going to those conflict areas by way of peacekeeping would be channelled into development".
Mr Dzamesi also appealed to the people of the Adaklu Traditional Area to come "to terms with the creation of the Adaklu-Anyigbe District with the capital at Agortime-Kpetoe, rescind their hostility defiance and join the district.
He expressed regret that their defiance was being shown in destructive ways including refusal to allow officials of decentralized organizations operating from Kpetoe to carry out any activity including sharing of textbooks and immunization in their areas. Mr Dzamesi suggested to media personnel to "do their homework thoroughly before coming out with stories else they would be doing a disservice to the region and the country".
