Resignations will not affect Party''s victory - Bagbin
Wa, Jan. 16, GNA - Mr. Alban Bagbin, Minority Leader has observed that recent resignations within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would not affect the party''s agenda to recapture power in 2008. However, he cautioned that there was the need to reunite all those who had resigned to have a formidable front before the next general elections.
Mr. Bagbin speaking on a local FM station at Wa on a wide range of issues, said Ghanaians had compared the regimes of both the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and realized that the NDC had better prospects for them.
"This goodwill will make Ghanaians vote massively for the NDC in 2008," He added.
He said as members of a democratic party, those who had resigned, had the right to safeguard their democratic rights, but should not allow their personal emotions and desires affect the fortunes of the party in future.
The Minority Leader noted that the ruling NPP Government had mismanaged the country''s resources therefore, when the NDC returned to power it would work hard to avoid such mismanagement and rather make judicious use of available resources to improve the standard of living of Ghanaians.
Mr. Bagbin said the NDC had an enviable track record, yet to be equalled by any Government in Africa and appealed to Ghanaians to remain ''referees'' of the NDC and the NPP from 1992 before casting their votes in 2008.
"Having corrected some of our past mistakes, we are coming back this time not as starters in governance, but an experienced side that has all it takes to dish out good governance and general development," Mr Bagbin added.
He appealed to NDC loyalists to remain committed to the party''s manifesto, put all differences behind them and forge ahead for better relations in future.
