StarLife Assurance donates to Urology Fund Accra, Sept 14, GNA - StarLife Assurance Company Limited on Wednesday donated 20 million Cedis to the Urology Department of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra
The donation was the Company''s contribution to the six-million-dollar Urology Fund to be established by the Hospital. Proceeds to the fund would be used to build a Urology Centre at the hospital as a monument in memory of the late Urologists. The Managing Director of the Company, Mr Diop Frimpong, who made the presentation, expressed the hope that the contribution would provide the seed for the achievement of another excellence.
"We hope that the Urology Centre, the seed of which we are sowing today, will grow to become another centre of excellence and add to the success already chalked in the Ghanaian Medicine".
He said the building of a monument in memory of the nations top urologists, who lost their lives, recently, was in the right direction and called on all to contribute generously to the initiative. Mr Frimpong praised Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng for the initiative, saying: "It is evident that it was through his leadership and the collective efforts of some individuals that the Cardio-thoracic Centre has become a centre of excellence not only for Ghana but Africa, he said.
Professor J.M.K. Quartey, Dr Isaac Bentsi and Dr Benjamin Osei-Wiafe died in a motor accident last month on the Bunso-Apedwa stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway when they were returning from an outreach programme at the Sunyani General Hospital.
The three were part of a medical team that took part in the outreach programme.Source: GNA
