Dutch NGO Provides VR C''nities With Potable Water Adjust font size: A Dutch-based non-governmental organization (NGO), German Knights is to commence feasibility studies in two communities in the Volta Region to install mechanised boreholes to provide potable water for them. They are Abutia Kloe, in the Ho municipality, and Likpe Abrani, in the Hohoe district. The plight of the people, especially women and children, who have to walk long distances in search of water, touched Cor Schot, an executive member of the NGO and Asio Kosi Dotse, a native of Likpe Abrani. At separate durbars held in their honour by the two communities, Mr Dotse hinted that a team of experts from Holland would arrive in the country early next year to commence the studies. Mr Schot assured the people of the two communities that the boreholes would be drilled in areas within the communities to make them sustainable and ease fetching of water. Mr Schot pledged to impress upon executives of the NGO to assist and support brilliant but needy pupils in the two communities. Mr Dotse appealed to the chiefs and the youth to assist the NGO in order to complete the projects on schedule and that any attempt to frustrate them would not augur well for their development. He advised the youth to rekindle their communal spirit to attract more investment to rural communities to improve their living standards.
