Police say they have intercepted 2500 rounds of ammunition and a shotgun being smuggled into Bimbilla in the northern region.
The ammunitions and shotgun were concealed in a coffin aboard a foodstuff carrying cargo truck.
The interception comes in the wake of Joy News reports three weeks ago that the Konkombas and Nanumbas in Bimbilla were arming themselves in apparent preparation for fresh hostilities in their age-long sporadic wars.
Officials of the Northern Regional Security Council at the time dismissed the reports as mere rumours.
This time around they have confirmed they are holding the two suspects who they say would be put before court immediately.
They have however assured that they are up and doing and would do all they can to maintain the peace and prevent any clashes.
The District Chief Executive of Bimbilla, Salifu Saeed who also confirmed the incident told Joy News that the matter had been referred to the Regional Minister for necessary action.
