AFRICA’S FIRST Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, yesterday paid a courtesy call on President John Agyekum Kufuor at the Castle, Osu.
Prof. Soyinka was in the country to launch the second edition of President Kufuor’s biography entitled, “Between Faith and History”.
The 400-page hard cover edition is written by Ghanaian author and journalist, Mr Ivor Agyeman-Duah.
In a brief remark, Prof. Soyinka, who commended Government for its achievements, recalled the last time he visited the country during which, he described, the country was in a distress, but now there was immense improvement.
While in Accra, Prof Soyinka will be engaged in a special TV conversation with Mr Agyeman-Duah under the title, "Wole Soyinka, the Muses of Writing and Yoruba Mythology".
It will be the sequel to a 1996 US State Department-supported interview the journalist had with the 71-year-old Soyinka at Emory University, where the professor was in exile after fleeing from Abacha''s dictatorship in Nigeria, as he prepared for the publication, “The Open Sore of a Continent”.
