The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned the immediate past United Nations (UN) Secretary General, Mr. Kofi Annan against joining Ghanaian politics as he (Annan) settles back home after his arduous job as the world’s number one civil servant. Speaking to the Moment newspaper in an exclusive interview at the party’s (NDCs) National headquarters at Kokomlemle in Accra of the born again NDC party...,
Mr. Baba Jamal, noted among other things that, Mr. Kofi Annan’s yeoman’s work at such a higher level has made Ghana proud and he is also an icon of the world, hence it would not be good for him (Annan) to join Ghanaian politics, which according to Mr. Jamal, is a dirty one, indeed, which could tarnish his (Annan’s) hard won world reputation.
“Our type of politics is a multi-system type which has a lot of divisions unlike that of the United Nations which is a unifying factor.” The energetic young deputy general secretary in charge of NDC’s administration and finance noted. According to him, Mr. Kofi Annan is a symbol of unity and should remain more at that level, be a nationalist and advise government with the rich experience he has acquired.
