Jake to be Grand Marshall at Martin Luther King March |

Accra, Jan. 12, GNA - Mr Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Diasporan Relations, would on Monday, January 15 2007 be the Grand Marshall to lead the Reverend Martin Luther King March in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America.
The March commemorates the one the Reverend Dr Martin Luther King, the renowned African-American Human Rights Activist, led to draw attention to inequalities in the USA at that time.
A statement from the Ministry signed by the Public Relations Director, Ms. Victoria Antwi-Sarpong said the selection of Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey to lead the March was sequel to his being made an Honorary Citizen of the City of Atlanta.
The statement said the gesture was also in recognition and in support of the "Joseph Project" initiated by the Minister as part of the Akwaaba Anyemi Programme, which is designed to encourage Africans in the Diaspora to come back home to Ghana. The project would be launched in July/August 2007 as part of the Ghana@50 celebrations.
Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey, who would leave Accra on Friday, would also attend the Premiere of the Anthony Bondian Show on Ghana and also participate in the African Travel Association (ATA) meetings in his capacity as its chairman.
