Ga kingmakers dismiss rumors
Kingmakers in the Ga state dispel rumors about the nomination and election of successor to Nii Amugi II
The Ga Paramount Stool has dismissed suggestions of possible manipulation of the choice of a successor to the late king of the Ga State, Nii Amugi II.
A delegation from the Ga paramount stool came to our studios today to set the records straight.
The delegation led by Nii Amui Quaye of the Amugi family first explained the processes involved in the installation of a Ga King.
He said the Gas has four ruling houses namely Teiko Tsuru We, Tachike Commey We, Amugi We and Abola Pia.
According to him when it comes to the installation of a Ga Mantse or a Ga Gyaase, the four ruling houses will sit down together and determine which house the next king will come from.
He said when the decision is taken by the two leaders, they will present a drink to the house from which the king is to come from.
When the house accepts the drink, they will also find a qualified person who is humble and academically clever from their midst.
He said the house can also select three other candidates and present them to the three ruling houses which from the Gyaase.
The Gyaase will vet and choose one of the three candidates to be king.
After this process the Gbese stool comprising the Chief priests of the Ga state namely the Nai Wulomo, Sakumo Wulomo and the Korle Wulomo will all vet the chosen candidate.
When all the chief priests approve of him, they will then refer him back to the Gyaase for preparations of the traditional rites on the candidate.
After these rites the candidate will be presented to the Ga State as the new Ga Mantse.
