Report people who politicize youth employment - Dery 1/25/2007
Lawra, Jan 25, GNA - Mr Ambrose Dery, the Upper West Regional Minister, on Wednesday denied rumours making rounds in the Upper West Region that the Youth in Employment Programme was created for only New Patriotic Party card bearing members. "I challenge all of you here to report anybody who discriminates against you on political grounds for action to be taken against such people".

Mr. Dery, who was answering questions on the programme at Lawra during the 6th People''s Assembly, said the issue had been raised several times and he was challenging people with such evidence to produce it for redress.

" It is not only party members who can bring development but the youth who give their best to the growth and development of the area and so we shall not discriminate in our quest to look for jobs for our numerous unemployed youth." He appealed to the people to bury their political differences and forge ahead for the development of the area rather than dwell on trivial issues.

Mr. George Yasame Sulley, the Lawra District Chief Executive, warned Parent/Teacher associations against charging unapproved fees. On development projects, he said the district was receiving interventions from the government and other donors and urged the people to honour their tax obligations to enable the assembly carry out more of the projects in the district. The people asked questions on potable water, roads, dams, schools and other government policies. 25 Jan 07Source:
