AMSTERDAM – The Netherlands coped with the snowfall without too many problems on Thursday. Traffic moved somewhat slower, trains ran less frequently and fewer flights took off and landed at Schiphol.
There was virtually no traffic jams during the evening rush hour, thanks to the weather alert. Traffic congestion hit an all time low for a weekday at 5.30 p.m., according to motorists’ organisation the ANWB. Meteorological institute KNMI withdrew the weather alert for heavy snow on Thursday evening.
The national police corps counted 68 accidents on the motorways by evening, no more than on any other day.
