| Make Ghana proud at UN- Minister urges students'' delegation |

Accra, March 4, GNA - The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Regional Cooperation and NEPAD, Ms Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has urged Ghanaian student''s delegation to the United Nations Junior High School Model Conference scheduled for New York, to make Ghana proud. The conference is scheduled for March 1 to 7
She made the call during a courtesy call on her by Master Mordechai Nyamekye, a 10 year old pupil of the Cradle Grace Family Montessori School who was adjudged the best honourable delegate during the Junior High school (JSS) United Nations Model Conference held at the Accra International Conference Centre in October last year and is one of the 13 students representing Ghana at the Conference.
The Deputy Minister congratulated Master Nyamekye for being selected to participate in the United Nations Model Conference in New York.
She expressed the conviction that with Master Nyamekye''s confidence and brilliance Ghana would be sure to make an impact at the model conference.
She also mentioned the government''s commitment to ensuring education for all Ghanaian children by making Human Resource Development one of its priority and referred to the implementation of policies such as the school feeding programme for students in Government schools, the Capitation Grant and the free bus rides on government buses for school children.
Ms Botchwey said with the necessary political will and good policies developing countries like Ghana could ensure that all children have quality primary education which was one of the Millennium Development Goals.
Master Nyamekye informed the Deputy Minister that he would make a presentation on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and briefed her on the importance of achieving these goals, especially by developing countries.
He said there was the need for government to work towards the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals.Source:
