US Congressmen arrives for Ghana@50 |

Accra, March 5, GNA - An-11-member Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) delegation of the United States Congress is in the country to celebrate Ghana''s Golden Jubilee Anniversary.
The delegation led by Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick would hold talks with President John Kufuor and President Olesegun Obasanjo of Nigeria to discuss strategies for promoting and sustaining stability, democracy and economic development in the West African Region.
Speaking at a visit to the Du Bois Centre in Accra, Congresswoman Carolyn Kilpatrick said the delegation would also interact with community leaders and residents about issues including infrastructure, health care, education and security.
The delegation will also review the progress of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) project, and a five year 547 million dollar anti-poverty initiative the US gave to Ghana aimed at improving the lives of the rural poor.
"America''s study and support of Africa is critical to our future, we are one big family, and we must explore the connections that exist", she said.
Ms Bridge Watters, US ambassador to Ghana, said Dubois''s integrity and honesty were known both in Africa and in the Diaspora and that called for Africans to emulate his good works.
She thanked the government for setting up the Ministry of Tourism and Diasporan Relations, which was the first in Africa.
