Kufuor, ministers attend Ennin''s funeral 4/3/2007
Kumasi, April 1, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Saturday led a high powered delegation which included his wife Theresa, to join a large crowd of mourners mostly Journalists from home and abroad at the funeral of Samuel Kwabena Ennin, Chairman of the Ashanti regional branch of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) at South Suntreso in Kumasi.

The others were Mr Kwadwo Mpiani, Chief of Staff and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Mr Allan Kyerematen, Minister of Trade, Industries and PSI, Paapa Owusu Ankomah, Minister of Education, Science and Sports.

The rest were Mr Kwamena Bartels, Information and National Orientation Minister, Dr.Kwame Addo Kufuor , Minister of Defence, Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister and Madam Patricia Appiagyei, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, some Members of Parliament(MPs) and District Chief Executives in the region.

Also present were the National President of the Ghana Journalists'' Association. Mr Ransford Tetteh and some senior journalists from various media houses including Mr Boakye-Dankwa Boadi, Supervising Chief Editor of the Ghana News Agency, Mr Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo, Editor of the Graphic Communications Group and Miss Adjoa Yeboah Afari, Editor of the Ghanaian Times.

President Kufuor donated 10 million cedis to the bereaved family while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) also donated 10 million cedis.

Earlier, the mortal remains of the late Ennin, who was the News Editor of Ash FM, was laid to rest at his home-town, Biribiwomanmu near Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of Ashanti.

The late Ennin was gunned down an unknown assailantsi on February 9 at a drinking spot at Pankronu Estate in Kumasi.
