I won’t resign – Adda 6/8/2007
The Minister of Energy, Mr Joseph Adda has said he is ready to resign if only that would make the Akosombo Dam full.

Speaking to Joy News, Mr Adda said his resignation will not change anything. He said the issue at stake is not about him being incompetent as the Minority in Parliament seeks to portray but a natural one that calls for pragmatic measures to deal with.

He dared: “If my resignation will bring the Akosombo Dam to 350 feet then I will do that in the interest of my country…If my resignation will drop from the sky 1000 Megawatts to help Ghana including myself do away with this load shedding programme I will resign.”

Mr Adda called on Ghanaians to exercise patience as government follows laid down pragmatic measures to take the country out of the energy crisis.

The Minority led by the MP for Ave Avenor, Mr Edward Doe-Adjaho on Thursday engaged in a war of words with Mr Adda calling him incompetent and confused. He asked Mr Adda to resign because he has failed to solve the energy crisis as energy minister.

But Mr Adda feels he and his team have done much to cushion Ghanaians from the shocks of the energy crisis.

“What I have seriously and maturely done between last year and now is to come out with a very strong and solid programme to help this country out,” he stated.

Mr Adda assured Ghanaians that the load shedding exercise will be over “by the end of September.”
