Mr Albert Atutiga, Northern Regional Chairman of the Convention People''s Party (CPP), has advised delegates of the party, to critically scrutinise the Presidential Aspirants of the party and choose the most marketable one amongst them to victory in 2008.
He said for a party to win power in Ghana, it needs someone who is appealing, had the credibility, charisma and the general good will of the electorate.
Mr. Atutiga gave the advice at the weekend when he met with party members from the Tamale North, Tamale South and Tamale Central constituencies to discuss pertinent issues and matters that would help the CPP to gain the needed support in the region towards winning the 2008 elections.
The meeting was also to discuss the impending National Delegates'' Congress of the CPP in November this year, and to dialogue and see how party members could study the manifesto of Presidential aspirants and vote them to lead the party.
"So far, all the aspirants who have declared their intentions to lead the party are all good. It is now left for us to critically scrutinize them, study their manifestoes and choose the right man to lead CPP to victory", he emphasised.
Mr. Atutiga claimed that both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had disappointed Ghanaians and that the CPP had an antidote to the economic problems as well as the energy and unemployment situation in the country.
"I can foresee problems in the NPP after their December National Delegates'' Congress. The NDC problems are still rife and it is proper for us to take advantage of these and make CPP a winsome party for many to join and give it a resounding victory in December 2008".
He appealed to Ghanaians to forget about the NDC and the NPP and vote for the CPP, which he said was a better alternative to ensure their economic and political freedoms so that Ghana would remain a haven of peace and development.
