| Ghana Is A Beacon Of Peace And Hope - Queen Elizabeth |

After the US Department of state, African leaders and the U.S. president himself, Barrack Obama, the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II is the latest to commend Ghana on behalf of the whole United Kingdom (UK) on its democratic credentials. Speaking on the occasion of the visit of president Mills to Britain, Peace FM sources say the Queen yesterday described Ghana as a beacon of peace and hope in democratic governance in Africa.
“We congratulate you for showing the way in good democratic governance and maintaining peace and stability in Ghana” The Queen said, the United Kingdom and Ghana will continue to enjoy a close friendship based on shared commitment to democracy and the rule of law. Speaking to Peace FM from UK, the presidential spokes person, Mr. Mahama Ayariga said, the Queen yesterday also had bilateral talks with president Mills on trade, how to fight drugs or Drug trafficking and assistance to Ghana.
President Mills was invited by the British Prime minister, Mr. Gordon Brown for a three- day visit to the UK which is the first of it Kind since he became a president on January 7 2009. The visit is to strengthen bilateral relations between Ghana and Britain and advance efforts at economic development. The president who left on Tuesday allowed the security at the Kotoka airport to give him a thorough bodily check, to send a clear signal to all citizens that no one is above the law.
In a related development, Peace FM’s correspondent in the UK, Kwaku Frimpong said, the president will today meet entrepreneurs and official at the Ghanaian embassy in the UK to have talks with them on how they can all contribute to Ghana’s development. He added that the president will also discuss with the Queen on UK’S budgetary support to Ghana after which he will have a press briefing.
