| Ghana To Have Share In Food Security Package |

Mr John Dramani Mahama - VeepGhana will have a substantial share of the $20 billion package agreed on by leaders of the G-8 to support food security in developing countries.
The Vice-President, Mr John Dramani Mahama, said this after interacting with the US President, Barack Obama, at the Breakfast Meeting at the Castle, Osu .
He said President Obama had pledged to help Ghana to benefit from this package, which would help boost the country''s agricultural produce and ensure food security.
"America is going to be a true partner. Although there are significant number of Americans already investing in various sectors of our economy," he said.
On the $3.5 billion food security initiative, focussed on new methods and technologies for farmers, he said it fitted into the government''s agricultural policy aimed at reducing poverty among the people.
Highlighting the closed-door bilateral meeting between President Obama and President Mills, he said the meeting discussed a variety of issues including technical support for the military, education, agriculture and health.
He said with the recent oil find, there was the need to protect the shores of the country and added that America had agreed to support Ghana technically in that respect.
The Vice-President said Ghana would receive assistance from America to support the health sector, particularly at the primary level.
"The visit has enhanced our solidarity with America, opened our country to investors as well as promoted our image," he said.
