"Political leaders have divine mandate"
Accra, Oct. 5, GNA - The Ghana Pentecostal Council (GPC) on Wednesday said that political leaders have a divine mandate to lead the country into a state of total transformation.
They must therefore remain focused, selfless and dedicated to the national cause and demonstrate the political will to take decisions that would bring about economic prosperity.
A statement signed by Apostle Dr. Michael Ntumy, President of the Council to mark this year''s GPC Week from October 3 to 9 said: "We need to move the economy from its present deplorable state to one that is stable, lustrous and durable as depicted by gold". About 208 denominational Pentecostal and charismatic churches across the country under the Council''s umbrella are participating in the celebration from October 3 to 9 on the theme: "Come Holy Spirit, Transform our Nation".
The statement urged politicians to show integrity by delivering on campaign promises and thereby sustain the trust of the people and reminded Christians that they had a role to play in using the virtues of honesty, hard work and selfless devotion to turn the country around, adding "our national pride is rooted in becoming partners in the production of goods and services that will better the lot of the country".
It enjoined churches to seek the power of the Holy Spirit to embolden them in the uphill task of nation building and commit themselves to fervent prayers.
The statement noted that the basis of transforming Ghana was promising, saying our nation is cultivating a culture of peace, embracing democratic governance, investing in skill and the manpower development and with the goodwill of a determined workforce as well as nurturing a vibrant atmosphere for the expression of faith in God.Source: GNA
