Government is committed to ensuring that Ghana’s education system is repositioned to train the right kind of human capital for national and industrial development. Government will also continue to provide tertiary educational institutions with the resources to enable them improve quality and access to tertiary education, both public and private. Furthermore, the Ministry of Education will maintain partnership with tertiary institutions to ensure that tertiary institutions provide more options and placements for graduates from the secondary school level. Mrs Betty Mould Iddrsu, Minister for Education, stated these at the opening of the 4th Higher Education Fair in Accra. The three-day Fair, organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with I-Texon Ghana, is on the theme: ’’The Mop-up’’ No Student Left Behind’’. The objectives of the Fair include bringing Senior High School students, teachers, parents, and guardians into direct contact with higher education providers, banks with higher education policies, educational insurance providers, career counselors and other stakeholders. Another objective of the Fair is to engender communication, promote growth and find solutions to the myriad of problems students face in the selection and placement in institutions of higher learning. The Fair is also meant to enlighten students on the opportunities available in other institutions of higher learning aside the public universities and more popular institutions. There are over 250 higher educational institutions in the country, all of which churn out human resource for the country annually. It is for this reason that the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with other stakeholders, is creating the right links to ensure that the right kind of education is made accessible to all.
