Give Education To Your Children – Muslims Told 8/14/2011
ALHAJI SALISU Yaro, Chief of Ashaiman Zongo has advised Muslims across the country to use the month of Ramadan to deeply reflect on ways of giving their children the best formal education. “It is because of our inability to give our children and youth the best education that some ‘evil pay masters’ have capitalized on to use our youth as tools of destruction and commotion,” Alhaji Yaro said.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, the Zongo Chief said formal education has in many ways helped improve the lives of many people who have in turn developed their communities in the area of infrastructure among others. He wondered why many Muslims would prefer profligacy to investing in their children’s future saying, “Until we Muslims ponder over the enormous benefits that education comes with and prioritize it for our children, our community will continue to mark time and continue to appeal for support from corporate bodies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).” Appealing for alms, he said, has never been the characteristic of Muslims, explaining that in times past, Muslims were the most benevolent “and so I always wonder why we have relegated ourselves to the present situation we find ourselves in.”
In this month of Ramadan, Alhaji Salisu challenged the Muslim youth to be focused, requesting of Allah to shape them and give them a well-prepared future. He urged them to shun ‘evil pay masters’ who would resort to them to carry out acts that Allah frowns on, noting that the laws of the state would not spare them when they are caught rioting on behalf of persons perceived as their pay masters. The discipline and commitment the youth would exhibit to Allah during the month of Ramadan, Chief Zongo said, should continue to be said of them after the Ramadan and even beyond. Wishing all Muslims a happy Ramadan, Alhaji Salisu Yaro prayed for strength and long life for National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Ousman Shaributu and the Hilal Committee that met in Kumasi to plan the calendar for this year’s Ramadan. Concluding, he charged all and sundry to vehemently resist the current spate of homosexuality in Ghana; an act he described as devilish saying it is highly un-Ghanaian and therefore must not be allowed to grow in the country.
