Vice president should be charged for contempt – Baako, Ayikoi Otoo 9/1/2013
Hardly did Ghanaians hear Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur comment on the NPP’s petition when it was before the Supreme Court.

Thus, it came as a surprise when the unassuming vice president passed remarks after the final ruling, which some felt were inappropriate.

He took a subliminal shot at the petitioners by wondering why the Supreme Court was not unanimous in dismissing all the pleadings which were brought before them by the petitioners.

After the Supreme Court had dismissed the petitioners case by a majority decision, Vice President Amissah Arthur told the press at the Flagstaff House that: “I‘ve never doubted that this will be the outcome…I‘m surprised that it wasn’t 9-0 9-0 throughout”.

But editor of the New Crusading Guide, Mr. Malik Kweku Baako is of the view the veep''s comments were in bad taste considering the timing. Mr. Baako advised Vice President Amissah- Arthur on Joy FM to focus his attention on national issues and avoid propaganda since it would mar his persona.

Speaking on the same platform, a member of the New Patriotic Party, Lawyer Ayikoi Otoo, added his opinion to the matter and made it clear what the vice president said made him a legitimate candidate to be summoned for contempt.

The NPP stalwart wondered if the president’s vice, seized the opportunity to make those comments because Ghanaians could hardly feel his impact as a leader. “He was trying to impress but he overdid it”…“Generally, he has been a laid back gentleman and hasn’t been seen that much in public. All this while, we never saw him and some people think that maybe he couldn’t step into the big shoes of his boss”, he said.
