NPP top guns display arrogance & opulence
If the NDC wins power in 2008, NO NPP BIG GUN WILL ESCAPE - Aspiring NPP Youth Organiser
Cape Coast -- Mr. Micheal Kwabina Ampong, an aspirant for the position of National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made it clear that danger looms for the party if it fails to retain power in 2008.

The 32-year old graduate of University of Cape Coast (UCC) maintained that the current trend in the NPP where top guns in the party display arrogance and opulence to the displeasure of its foot soldiers were not abated then it was likely that its opponent, NDC could bounce back.

He added that if that happened no member of the ruling party would escape the wrath of their rival.

Mr. Ampong gave the warning last Sunday when he launched his campaign to annex the post of national youth organizer.

He warned that the NPP should take in account the vindictive nature of Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings even among his party members who would stand against him, citing example of Ms. Frances Assiam, who, he said, had requested for security, following his disparaging remarks about the former head.

Mr. Ampong, who, it is believed, is being sponsored by Mr. Alan Kyeremanten, Trade and Industry Minister and one of the speculated contenders for the NPP presidential slot, said the party should consider how they have jailed some of the NDC members and the possibility of the rival party to revenge when regain power.

According to him, any party member who would claim that NPP was not in crisis might deceive his or herself.

He said the party as it was now needed committed people who would re-organize it and attract disenchanted members back to the fold because politics was about numbers.

He said Tescon members were only useful during election and immediately after they are damped, adding that such attitude has led to the low morale of Tescon members on various campuses.

According to Ampong, it was against such backdrop that was why his was vying for the national youth organizer position in order to re-energize the spirit of the youth wing of the party to garner more support towards 2008.

Meanwhile, Ampong, who was touted as one of the best SRC presidents UCC has ever had, refuted allegations that he and executives had to answer questions that bothers on purchasing of two buses for the university during his tenure of office between 2000-2001, which was shrouded in secrecy.

He said he never bought any car for his comfort, explaining that the university authorities were signatory to the institutions account and that there was no way he could clandestinely withdraw money from such account.

He such allegations were calculated attempt to tarnish his hard won reputation and called on his supporters to disregard such vile propaganda against him.
