The National women’s organizer of the NDC, Frances Asiam has been prevented from supervising the women’s congress of the Central Regional branch of the party.
Ms Asiam told Joy News that just before proceedings got underway, irate party members, accused her of insulted the former president and demanded that she leaves the auditorium in Cape Coast.
Ms Asiam says her detractors orchestrated the incident.
“ The issue is that, they said I have insulted Jerry Rawlings so should get out, they have orchestrated the thing. I have ended my sojourn and I am not standing again. It is their duty to comport themselves as a political party and come back to power,” she said.
Ms Asiam has been in the news recently for various alleged offences against the NDC and its founder, former president Rawlings.
The party has set up a committee to investigate allegations that she tried to influence a leading member, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, to defect to the ruling NPP.
