It Was More Than Just Music At All 4 Real Concert
The National Theatre in Accra was the place to be last Saturday as it hosted the “All 4 Real” man, Ofori Amponsah, performing in his own concert dubbed “Changing Face”.
The show witnessed such a massive turn out that one could not easily leave his or her seat for fear of it being occupied by another person.
Together with supporting artistes including Wutah, Praye, Kwaku Gyasi, Kwaisey Pee, Kofi Nti and King Ayisoba, the first ever concert of the contemporary highlife star had a positive response from the crowd present at the venue.
Ofori Amponsah dished out about an hour of live music of some of his recent hit songs ably backed by a live band after appearing on stage in a colourful fashion.
At the introduction of Mr. All 4 Real by MCs Kwame Sefa Kayi and Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), the whole auditorium went dark and the popular “Halleluyah Chorus” sung by a choir could be heard in the background.
As the lights in the auditorium returned, the Immanuel Presby Church Choir from Madina clad in white robes led by a conductor also in a robe appeared on stage singing the “halleluyah” chorus to the amazement of the crowd.
After ushering the choir off the stage, the conductor turned out to be Ofori Amponsah himself as he took off his robe exposing himself in an all-red outfit to begin his show.
As part of the concert, Ofori interrupted his own performance and requested for a seat on stage to give a brief background on his childhood and how he started his music career.
At a point, he was gladly joined by the audience as he sang a popular gospel song in gratitude to God for his successes so far.
The award winning Ofori Amponsah also acknowledged the presence of Fadda Dickson of Peace FM, Big Ben, Apietus among others who have helped him in his music career.
To add more spice to the show, the “All For Real” man did some of his songs in a salsa style which saw two males and females joining him on stage to do a well-choreographed salsa dance.
However, the absence of up and coming artiste Barosky in the concert was felt though KOD tried to sing his parts in Ofori’s songs on which he featured.
Other performances from Kwaku Gyasi, Wutah and Praye swept most of the audience off their feet. As promised before the concert, some of the supporting artistes sang some of Ofori Ampnsah’s songs as part of their performances.
Though Kwaisey Pee put up a good performance, the crowd was not moved because he often faced the band instead of facing the audience.
Side attractions at the well rehearsed and organised concert included the usual piece of cloth and over-sized slippers of King Ayisoba which sent the audience laughing as well as the often unusual outfits of KOD who wore a red suit with white shirt and tie while wearing jeans trousers folded halfway up the legs exposing a pair of sandals.
Ofori Amponsah’s “Changing Face Concert”, which promises to be an annual affair, was a live show which brought out the real voice, poise and stagecraft of the musician.
