Music And Dance Thrills At Alliance Francaise |

THE POPULAR "Wednesdays at the Paillote" programme, held regularly at the Alliance Francaise in Accra bounces back after a short Christmas break, with diverse groups showcasing their talents.
Sponsored by the French Embassy and the Alliance Francaise in Accra, the programme for January 2007 will host Zuktin Zuke, Sogo Traditional Music and Dance Group, Yererekorossi and Okotobrigya Cultural Troupes.
On Wednesday, January 10, Zuktin Zuke, which will feature the multi-instrumentalist and singer, Ras Eddie Abderalmani, will entertain fans with folk music from Niger, Mali, Senegal, Nigeria, and Ghana.
They will send the audience back into time with songs in various African languages.
Wednesday, January 17, will be the turn of Sogo Traditional Music and Dance Troupe, who will showcase a series of traditional music and dance pieces from Nigeria, Togo, Benin and Ghana, while fusing drums from Ghana and Nigeria.
Yererekorossi from neighbouring Burkina Faso will mount the stage on Wednesday, January 24, with folk music from Burkina Faso.
Formed several years ago, the group is expected to introduce Ghanaians to the rich folk music traditions of Burkina Faso.
Okotobrigya Cultural Troupe will introduce fans to its own variations of traditional Ghanaian dance pieces.
Led by Isaac Della Avorka, the group will perform a number of choreographed dance pieces which are characterised by subtle and vigorous movements.
