Nigerian song star joins campaign against road accidents
Accra, Sept. 19, GNA - A Nigerian music star, Mother Jolly Abani at the weekend joined the national campaign for discipline on our roads with the launch of an Album "Stop The Rush," aimed at encouraging drivers to stop the rush and save lives on the roads.
The song star thrilled music lovers who thronged La Palm Royal Beach Hotel to witness her performance characterised by majestic body movements to the songs of Soul Entertainers Band. The show was organised by KEJ Concept under the auspices of the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana.
Performance of the hit song "Stop The Rush," a powerful mid-tempo soul Africa song, momentarily transformed the conference hall into a theatre of bees of handkerchief waving, dancing and shouting audience. Mother Jolly took centre stage and moved the music enthusiasts into higher gear with her angelic voice and chorography that kept most people standing, dancing and clapping during the four-hour show. In an interview with Ghana News Agency, Mother Jolly expressed concern about the carnage on the country''s roads mostly due to negligence on the part of drivers and other road users. "The death toll on our roads is frightening and we need to do something about it," she said, adding "this is not about a country but about lives, which we must fight for."
She said the song gave a message of hope to the ordinary person and offered Godly counsel to the youth to bid their time cautiously. Mother Jolly said the concept of the "Stop The Rush song" was to preach the message of peace through a danceable African beat with a specific message running through all the title tracks.
