Pan-African TV channel, M-Net has selected Ghanaian Hiplife sensation, Abrewa Nana as one of three judges for ‘Idol’s West Africa’, the network’s latest talent hunt contest. Together with two other judges from Nigeria (Dede Mabiaku and Dan Foster), Abrewa Nana will help choose the next musical sensation from the West Coast of Africa. “These three personalities will make great judges”, M-NET’s director, Joseph Hunday said. “They understand the industry, they know what it takes to succeed and they have diverse experience.” Together the judges will identify genuine talent among the thousands of ‘Idols’ hopefuls. With a string of awards between them, Dede, Nana and Dan are looking forward to the challenge ahead, and are clear about what they are looking for.
Dede lists “vocal ability, visual presentation and branding potential” as important assets while Abrewa Nana says, “performance ability, confidence, charisma and professionalism” are vital qualities for contestants. Dan says he will be looking “for a unique, passionate artist with a great personality and powerful vocal cross-over ability.” The ‘Idols West Africa’ train stops over in Accra this weekend.
