The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has threatened to wage a relentless war on any organization or group that uses the union’s name to solicit funds without its permission.
In a statement signed by the second vice president of the union, Togbe Edinam Ansah, the union stated it had noticed some people had gone overseas to obtain loans on behalf of music composers, producers and MUSIGA.
The statement indicated that MUSIGA disassociated itself from “these elements” and warned that it would deal with any group of persons found to have been involved in the scam.
It described as illegal and criminal, the activities of those who used the names of stakeholders in the music industry to amass wealth, and therefore, called on donor agencies to seek clarification from MUSIGA before releasing funds to any group.
