| Mass resignations rock Atlantis Radio |

Atlantis Radio used to be famous for country music and rural America gospel shows. Over the years their programming experiment started peaking to allow it become a nice get-away frequency. Not too long ago, a little tweak in regular formats made it the number two radio station in the capital; or so said the last (GAMPS) report.
Atlantis 87.9 FM has become a new experience in urban radio with quiet a popular ‘drive’ show and a breakfast patrol worth checking out. But behind the new facelift, the station’s employees have to deal with an “overbearing CEO”, James Appiah, who reportedly has the habit of sending confusing signals. “One minute he wants something changed, next time he will complain about the same changes he made and call you names behind your back.” At least those were some of the issues some former employees had a problem with.
JIVE has learnt that four people resigned en mass from the Atlantis newsroom citing everything from bad working conditions, non-payment of SSNIT contributions to blatant disrespect as their reasons. Others have also made unconfirmed claims, which JIVE is currently investigating. On any given day, a reporter will run around the whole city for news and at the end of the month get 20,000 cedis per story; a source told JIVE.
Sometime last year, Mr. Appiah is said to have over-stepped his boundaries with the name-calling antics and angered the whole newsroom. The staff in turn retorted with outright resignation. A few days later they also found out their SSNIT contributions had been paid for only two months since they were officially employed.
Last year, Eddie Blay was part of the Atlantis Morning Drive when the show took off. His outgoing persona complimented Jackie’s and Rudy, and the whole team gave the show character. A few months later Eddie’s boss came at him with his usual toffee nosed attitude over his role on the morning show. Prior to that he had been told to stay home till he was notified-this was after he had come to work, done the show and had gone away to prepare for the next day. He quit the station before things got murky-after all Eddie Blay is no spring chicken.
