Rap star Foxy Brown spared jail 3/2/2007
Rapper Foxy Brown has been spared jail despite admitting violating probation by leaving New York without permission.
Her rule-breaking became public last month when she was charged with battery and resisting an officer in Florida.

But Ms Brown, who is on probation for assaulting two nail salon workers in 2004, has been told she will go to jail if she breaks her restrictions again.

Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson said she had "one more chance", adding: "Three strikes and you''re out."

The 27-year-old hip-hop star, real name Inga Marchand, said the judge "believes" in her.

''Working hard''

"I believe Judge Jackson believes I''m trying to work hard," she said. "She seems to be saying: ''I''m pulling for you, kiddo.''"

On Tuesday, the star claimed she had been a victim of police brutality when she was arrested in Florida.

During a press conference, she said she had been dragged half-naked out of a store''s bathroom and picked on by police because she was black.

Ms Brown, who has recorded with Jay-Z and Method Man, scored a US number one with her Chyna Doll album in 1999.
