Twenty-year-old Frances Tekyi-Mensah from the Greater Accra Region is Miss Ghana 2007.
Miss Tekyi-Mensah emerged the winner of the annual prestigious beauty pageant keenly contested with nine other contestants.
Frances who burst into tears of joy immediately her name ran out of the loud speakers, took home as her prize a sleek jaguar saloon car donated by the management of MG Rover, importers of Jaquar cars.
First runner-up Amanda Okyere-Boakye, a 23 year-old mechanical engineering student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, took home ¢5million as her prize.
She is followed by second-runner up and 20-year-old law student of the KNUST from the Volta Region, Doreen Delali Akpai.
For her prize, she takes home ¢3 million.
Twenty year-old Eunice Mbonya Adoguba of the University of Ghana, Legon was adjudged Miss Talent, while contestant number four Delilatu Issah of the Northern Region became Miss Personality.
The Miss Eloquence title went to Sandi Owusu-Yaw, a 21 year old Nursing Student of the University of Ghana, Legon.
This year’s Miss Ghana beauty pageant took an exciting dimension as past Miss Ghana title winners dating back to 1957, when the first Miss Ghana beauty contest was organised, were present to grace the occasion.
It was all joy and a moment of excitement when the past Miss Ghana title holders mounted the stage and greeted the audience.
Abrantie Amakye Dede popularly called the Iron boy stole the evening’s show with the award winning highlife album Iron Boy.
The audience could not but take to the dancing floor as they sang and danced to the tune of the songs by his international band.
Later in an interview, Miss Ghana 2007 said even though she joined the contest to win she was overwhelmed with the support she got from the general public who sent text messages nominating her for the ultimate prize winner.
