Timi confirmed at the Idols West Africa press conference at Planet 1, straight after winning the Idol title that the glorious beginning and end of the great show is a dream come true for him because he’s always dreamt of a great moment when he would be given a platform to express himself musically.
Now, as the winner he will receive the much-coveted international recording deal from Sony BMG, amongst other mouth watering prizes.
Encrusted by the press who jostled to get some words from the first Nigerian to be crowned an Idol, Timi (though still expressing some victory shock and with tears of joy straying down his eyes occasionally) says no amount of words are enough to express how he feels about his victory.
“I can only say that the word impossible means no one has done it yet,” these were his words when the press asked if he ever thought he could win the most prestigious entertainment crown in West Africa.
He says being the first West African Idol is the beginning of great things in his life, as he thanks his fans very generously for their supports.
Omawumi, who came second in this grueling and thrilling music competition, says the Idols West Africa experience has changed her life entirely. “It’s a priviledge to sit by the winner,” she jocularly says, smiling by Timi’s side.
Joseph Hundah, Head of M-Net Africa, opines that the huge success of the show is a testimony to M-Net’s commitment and focus on West Africa and the quest to satisfy the need of customers in the region.
Elvina Ibru of Pan-Africa Entertainment (PAE) proudly says that Idols West Africa has re-iterated it to the world that Africa has something to be proud of. She thanked the media and all those who contributed to make the show a huge success.
The Managing Director of Multichoice, Collins Khumalo bolsters Mr. Hundah’s position that the success of the show testifies to the cordial and resourceful relations between M-Net and Multichoice.
“M-Net makes me proud,” as he also thanks the contestants for attracting customers to Multichoice.
