Areeba credit for GMA winners delays |

Winners in various categories of this year’s Ghana Music Awards are yet to be presented the five hundred thousand cedis worth of areeba credit promised as part of the award package.
Winners in an interview confirmed the fact that they’re yet to be given their areeba credit award two months after the event. The artists didn’t sound bitter but voiced concern over the delay.
Sources at Charterhouse, organisers of the event say the areeba credit bit was not originally part of the award package but came in at the latter stage of organising the event when musicians kept asking what they’d get aside the plaque.
Areeba and Charterhouse are said to be making arrangements to make a public presentation of the areeba credit award by end of June.
The likes of King Ayisoba, Obrafuor, Ofori Amponsah, Praye, Kweku Gyesi, Kwesi P, Christiana Love, Samini and other winners may take solace in the news that it will be given them by close of this month.
The fact that Charterhouse do not have a track record of keeping prices or awards of deserving winners should perhaps imbue the winners with hope and confidence that it shall come to pass that they’ve received everything they deserve.
Ghana Music Awards is Ghana’s premier annual music awards event. Its eighth edition was held at the national theatre in April amidst pomp and pageantry.
It still remains the only consistent award event in Ghana that honours players in the music industry in a well-organised fashion.
