Nana Ama Mc Brown enstooled 7/24/2007
Assin-Basiako (C/R), July 18, GNA - Popular Ghanaian actress, Nana Ama McBrown, was on Sunday enstooled as the Nkosuohemaa of Assin-Basiako near Assin-Fosu in the Assin-North district of the Central region. The actress, 29, was enstooled under the stool name Nana Ama Adwubi I and is mandated to choose her own Nkosuohene in line with traditions of the Assin people.

A host of Ghanaian artistes graced the grand and colourful ceremony, which also attracted many people from most of the towns in Assin-North to the chief''s palace to catch a glimpse of the actress. She was dressed in a rich kente cloth and exquisite traditional ornaments to signify her new status.

In an address, Nana Akwasi Appeatu IV, chief of Assin-Basiako, commended the actress for being dedicated to the cause of the underprivileged and youth.

"The elders and people of Basiako had recognized your care for orphans, good works and decision to institute a scholarship scheme for brilliant but needy students in the town to further their education", Nana Appeatu noted.

He lauded the actress for her discipline and exemplary life and said it was about time that other professionals emulated this shinning example.

Swearing the oath of allegiance, Nana Adwubi thanked the chief and people for the honour done her and promised to work hard to justify her new status.

She said she would work in collaboration with the District Assembly and stakeholders in initiating development projects to uplift the standard of living of the people of Basiako.

Mr Kwabena Karikari-Appau, Assin-North District Chief Executive, called on the people of Assin to commit resources towards the development of the area, since government alone cannot shoulder all the responsibilities.
