Rev. Bonsu goes home 11/5/2007
After weeks of legal battle over the burial place for the acclaimed gospel musician, Rev Michael Osei-Bonsu, all is set for the body to be interred in his native Goaso in the Brong Ahafo Region on Saturday.

The litigation at the courts pitched some of the children of the late Osei-Bonsu against the musician/reverend minister’s family until the matter was taken out of court for settlement.

The children were arguing that before their father died, he told them that upon his death, he should be buried in Accra and no other place.

This was objected to by the extended family which felt that as tradition demanded they had control over where their late relative should be buried and not his children.

About a month ago, the children sought and earned an injunction from the court to prevent the family from going for the body of the Rev Osei Bonsu from the morgue in Accra for burial and final funeral rites at Goaso.

This happened at a time some family members had been dispatched to Accra to convey the body to Goaso.

After the out-of-court settlement however, family sources told Graphic Showbiz that all was set for the funeral which is expected to attract lots of gospel musicians from all over the country.

The sources said feverish preparations were underway to contain the thousands of musicians, members of the late reverend minister’s church and other well-wishers.

The body of the late gospel musician would be laid in state at the St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Parish Hall at dawn on Saturday morning and buried later in the morning.

The late Osei-Bonsu, 53,was born at Goaso. He started playing the accordion when he was 15.

His Christian principles started showing very early and it was no wonder that he became a reverend minister in his lifetime, establishing his own church in Accra.
