Singing For NDC Has Affected Me-Lucky Mensah 8/3/2009

One of the outstanding male musicians, Lucky Mensah has confessed that his decision to honour NDC’s request to compose a song for the party during the 2008 electioneering campaign has affected his music career. “I must be honest with myself, that singing for the Party has affected me.” It would be recalled that Lucky Mensah composed a song titled: “Come to NDC” for the party during the heat of 2008 general elections campaign. The song sought to persuade eligible voters to vote for the party. Speaking to Peace FM reporter, Nana Yaa Brefo, the musician disclosed that, since he composed that song for the party, his fans no longer patronize his music and video clips like they used to. He however appealed to Ghanaians to understand musicians because that is their job and a source of income, hence they can not turn down a lucrative deal when so contracted.
In a related development, another musician, Kwabena Kwabena who also composed a song for the NPP during the campaign period sounded a word of caution. He said, “We are united as one but with different views, so the fact that one sings or votes for a particular party does not make him an enemy.” He added “we should rather be proud there is democracy in this country, because it’s our democratic credentials that brought the famous United State president, Barack Obama to this country.”
