Gyedu Blay Ambolley performs at Bank of Africa 20th anniversary 12/19/2010
Hi-Life musician, Gyedu Blay Ambolley returned from Benin Thursday where he was a special guest artiste invited from Ghana to perform at the Bank of Africa''s 20th anniversary.

The event took place at the Benin Marina Hotel in Cotonou, the national capital on Wednesday night to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the bank.

The event hosted some of the crème de la crème in the African banking sector and according to Ambolley who was speaking to Myjoyonline.com, it was a unique opportunity to entertain his huge fan base in Benin.

“I was the only Ghanaian artiste and I went there with my band and there was another guest artiste who was also invited from the Ivory Coast. His name is Bailly Spinto.”

Ambolley has a rich African music background and with his simaigwa style of fast flowing rhythms and lines, he is appealing to many across the sub-region.

Ambolley said he was “...invited from Ghana to go and perform because of the nature and style of my music… There was a ceremonial event, their 20 years of business and they wanted music that will suit the occasion and looking around, they contacted me.”

He is set to take part in a charity event Saturday which will see him donate and party with children on admission at the Children’s Ward of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The charity event, (not his first though) is put together by Little Angels Trusts, an NGO that seeks the welfare of children.
