One of Ghana’s most powerful vocal songstress, Jane Awindor known in showbiz as Efya has hinted that she will soon be embarking on a ten-city tour to promote her album and works.
The artiste speaking in an interview with Hitz Entertainment News said she has currently recorded 30 songs, which makes up two albums, ready for the Ghanaian music market.
Her first album (titled Efya), she revealed, will be released during the second quarter, around April, of this year and as soon as the album is released, she will hit the road with the tour.
The ten-city tour will see her perform in all the ten major cities (regional capitals) of Ghana and ten major cities in Nigeria, South Africa and other countries.
Born into a family of media professionals – Dad, a director at the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) and her mum, Nana Adwoa Awindor, a media mogul and host of popular TV show, Greetings From Abroad - Efya picked after their footsteps learning video editing at an early age.
According to Efya, her mother''s TV programme took her to about 30 countries; an experience she admits was clearly worth it.
Jane Awindor shot into fame through the first edition of Charter House’s Stars of the Future reality show in 2006 where she was second runner up.
That show brought the formation of the duo, Irene and Jane (Irene Logan – winner of the reality show) which lasted for three years. They released an album, Unveiled during that time.
Efya so far has several singles including For You and Little Things which is currently blazing on the airwaves. One thing that makes her stand out is her music background which is deeply rooted in live stage performances.
She is eying an award or two at the up coming Ghana Music Awards as she is hopeful of clinching Female Vocalist and Discovery of the year awards. Efya together with Irene won the Best Female Vocal Performance award at the 2008 edition of the awards.
Efya is currently being managed by Canoe Entertainment but holds a dream of signing onto Jay Z''s Roc Nation record label in the United States of America.
