The 2011 edition of the Music of Ghanaian Origin (MOGO ) concert would certainly be an unforgettable one as a ‘live’ lion appeared from nowhere, to the shock and amazement of patrons of the concert.
There was a thunderous shout which was sustained for several minutes and the audience could not help but to be on their feet all through the show when the lion was on stage.
The appearance of the rather tamed lion was during the performance of Adane Best, one of the 10 artistes who held Highlife lovers spellbound throughout the over six-hour show.
The concert which was the second of the 2011 MOGO festival started with Wulomei opening the stage with some soothing Ga songs. They were followed by Nana Yaa, who gave her own rendition of some great tunes which truly got the audience charged for the night.
When it was the turn of the ‘Onyame Ahuu’ hit maker K. K Kabobo, the entire auditorium which was packed to the third tier of the National Theater went gaga. There were hits after hits as the various artistes took their turn to make the holiday of the audience worthwhile.
Several of the very satisfied patrons who spoke to Citifmonline. com seemed to be singing one chorus “this was a great show”. Others said “Ghanaian music truly lives on and must be celebrated and this is a great platform and I really enjoyed myself. ”
George Darko pulled off a wonderful act with his ‘borga Highlife’, K. K Fosu was on point as the youngest of the lineup, Dada K. D got the ladies singing along throughout his performance and Adane Best kept his promise of bringing a live lion on stage.
Final act for the night was Nana Acheampong who kept the audience standing throughout his performance even until his last song. When he finally bowed out, the audience wanted more and called for him back, but then it was a wrap for the night.
Organisers of MOGO, Citi 97. 3 FM promised the audience a night to remember and from all indications and per what the reactions picked from the audience they have delivered on their promise. They also indicated that next year’s MOGO thus MOGO 2012 would be twice as big and triple the action.
Saturday, December 3 would be the last day of the festival where some Highlife legends would be honoured at the MOGO Dinner and Awards night at the Alisa Hotel at 7pm.
