| Hi-Life Festival puts the icing on 2011 |

The final instalment of the Hi-Life Festival for 2011 which came off at the Alisa Hotel poolside Friday night, December 30, got patrons beaming with profound joy and satisfaction even hours after the show was over.
Some were literally stuck in their seats not wanting to leave the venue just because they wanted more. Interestingly, the night had four of Ghana''s all time hi-life greats, Jewel Ackah, Felix Owusu, Paapa Yankson and K. K. Kabobo, on the bill.
And after hours of non stop music, dancing, a good body excercise and surprise performances from Rex Omar and Amandzeba, patrons were still like the proverbial Oliver Twist - they wanted more. Note, Rex Omar and Amandzeba were just there to have a good time.
The Shabo International Band, the band for the night, warmed up the music nerves and feet of patrons. Tasked to give revelers a feel of what the night had in store, one could say they executed that task perfectly and diligently. They were splendid with some of their renditions of some popular tunes.
The first artiste to mount the stage was Jewel Ackah who was dressed in an all white. After wishing the hundreds who had filled every inch of space at the venue a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year, he kick started his performance.
His first and second songs were gospel. He first called for God''s blessings and his son, Jesus, to guide his children from the torments of the evil one. That was followed by his second, Asumdwe Hene.
Jewel''s third song interestingly started with the shout, "Azonto, Azonto, Azonto". He stunned many a few minutes after when he shouted, "Do you want to see me dance Azonto?" The response from the crowd pushed the hi-life great to stand up from his seat on stage to give ago at the ever popular dance. His Azonto dance drew rapturous applauds and cheers from the now elated patrons. The Azonto fever has not only caught the young but the old as well.
The youngest among the acts for the night, Felix Owusu, took over with a tough task of out shinning a Jewel - something he admitted wasn''t going to be easy. The silky voice Felix had a game of his own. His voice was just charming!
His songs, Okwantuni, Waben, No Woman No Cry, and a host of others got patrons busy. Many were at their wits, showing off their unique dancing skills and at this point their wet cloths gave evidence of the amount of calories they were burning.
Paapa Yankson was next. After a few humourours exchanges with his audience, he got down to business. His first track, Mensei Medzin, got revelers who were trying to take a breather rushing back to the dance floor. Paapa had turned the notch higher.
He performed several of his hit songs including, Okukuseku, Afihyia Pa and Wo Hye Yen Ase.
K. K. Kabobo summed up the night''s performances. As the last artiste on the bill and considering the trademark performances put up by the three who preceded him, a lot was expected of the Nyati Nyati man. And yes he did not fail, he rocked.
K. K. was at his all time best this particular night. He beamed with confidence and excitement - an overdose - never seen before. No wonder he was the last act for the night. For several minutes he was on stage dishing out hit after hit, he showed no sign of tiredness.
He got patrons singing along well known tunes such as Nyati Nyati Girl, Oseifour, My Sweet Love, Running Away (nobody taa ne do), and Onyame ehu wo. It was as if the party had just started.
In all, all the artistes who graced the finale of this year''s Hi-LifeFestival brought their individual talents and skills to bear. Performances and sound were on point no wonder many still wanted more.
