Sensational hiplife group, Praye and controversial musician Barima Sidney were the toast of the fans at Mamfe –Akuapem Friday, as they thrilled them with their popular tracks on the high street of the town.
The street carnival put together by Adom Fm with support from Protector Gold plus condoms, formed part of the weekly celebration of the Ohum Festival 2013 in the area.
The hiplife ninja, bonded with the numerous fans at the show with his ‘squad ye’ dancers and performed hit tracks like ‘scent no’ , ‘gadimdim gadem’, ‘Africa Money’, ‘Obiaa nye obiaa’ and others.
He kept the crowd dancing throughout the performance but others, especially the guys preferred to stand and watch the 2 female dancers who shook their ‘backs ‘ and ‘fronts’ to entertain them.
When Praye, made up of the Choir master and Big J took the stage, they had no reason to disperse the crowd who were already charged after Sidney’s performance. They did hit tracks like ‘independent’, ‘Adjoa Attaa’, ‘Angelina’ and others to keep the place alive.
The duo intermittently engaged the fans to sing along with them referring to them as choristers and they amazingly sang along without a break. They were asked by the fans to give them more and more even after they had finished their performance and indeed they delivered the more to their admiration.
Before Sidney and Praye, there were performances from hiplife hitmaker and the twipop general D’Cryme who did songs like “turn around” and the popular “kill me shy”.
Yaa Pono and his uptown energy crew mounted the stage in their usual ‘high grade’ level and usually engaged the fans to their ‘yashe saaa’ (We have smoked more) slogan. When Buk Bak took their turn, they had a challenge to get the fans to relate to them well until they started the ever popular ‘kolom’ track.
Mc’s of the night, Jerry Justice, OpD, Pope Skinney and Kusi Mensah Capito creatively organized competitions in both Azonto dance and rap for the kids, ladies and young guys from Mamfe and the neighboring towns. Winners of all the competitions were presented with prizes ranging from exercise books, cash, and souvenirs from the sponsors.
D.J’s Ben Duker and Wobete thrilled the crowd with good music after the performances until they could not stand the heat any more.
The Mamfe Ohum Festivisties continues on Saturday with a grand durbar of Chiefs and the people of Mamfe Akuapem and will be crowned with a special Omotuo session on Sunday morning.
