Dutch spending on R&D below EU average |

The Netherlands lags behind some of the world’s richest countries, including the US, Japan, France and Germany, when it comes to spending on research and development, according to figures from European statistics office Eurostat.
With spending on r&d at 1.78% of GDP in 2004, Holland did not even reach the EU average of 1.85%, Eurostat said.
