Biting suspect to undergo blood test 1/17/2007
AMSTERDAM — A 38-year-old Leeuwarden man has been ordered by a Utrecht court judge to undergo a blood test to determine whether he infected a railway police officer after biting him on Sunday.

The man bit the officer''s finger when he was caught travelling without a ticket.

The suspect — who according to a psychiatric report is addicted to hard drugs — refused to give blood for an analysis.

The officer then lodged legal proceedings to have the suspect tested for possible infectious diseases.

His lawyer said the health and interests of the officer were more important than the physical integrity of the suspect and the judge agreed.
