| MPs launch inquiry into education reform |

AMSTERDAM – Parliament will appoint an inquiry into the reforms that have been introduced in education over the past 20 years, including the basic secondary school curriculum, preparatory secondary vocational education and “new learning.”
The decision is in response to the student protest last Friday when school students demanded more classroom hours and expert teachers. A spokesperson for D66 said: ‘Education has sunk to an unacceptable level.’
At the initiative of the PvdA the Clerks’ Department of Parliament will be instructed on Thursday to work out an initial inquiry plan.
The main question is why educational reforms continue to lead to dissatisfaction among parents, teachers and students.
