Dutch hand over “Taliban leader” |

AMSTERDAM – One of the three men taken prisoner last Monday by Dutch troops in the Afghan province of Uruzgan “supposedly belongs to the middle leadership ranks of the Taliban,” a spokesperson for Defence said on Sunday.
The suspects were arrested last Monday during a patrol by Dutch reconnaissance units. They were found near a site in the Baluchi valley used to store weapons.
The three were handed over to Afghan authorities in Tarin Kowt on Sunday.
This was the second time Dutch soldiers have arrested Afghans. Another three people had been arrested by were released after further investigation.
